Choosing the right Self Defense Sprays!

Over the years, law enforcement and military personnel have been utilizing less lethal weapons as a means of subduing criminal suspects as well as in a crowd control situation. 

With the vast variety of self defense weapons available in today's market, it has become a lengthy process in choosing a product that will fit your needs and situation.  Our advise is to shop these defense devices as if you were shopping for any other form of product as in a vehicle or furniture. 

Self defense sprays are a wonderful tool as they not only provide protection but are very inexpensive, easily carried and come in a variety of styles and sizes.   For some, the key chain pepper spray may be the perfect item as it's carried on your key chain along with your keys.  This method is an exceptional choice for those of you who may walk, jog and run, and for the many individuals who travel amongst parking lots and college campuses.  This style also ensures you have your protection device with you at all times.

Self defense products as you know are less lethal and will not permanently harm anyone, they are designed to temporarily affect the attacker so you may get yourself away from the situation to safety.  Using pepper sprays for defense will incapacitate an attacker for up to 45 minutes, which allows you enough time to leave the scene.
 

Self defense sprays will cause severe eye tearing thus causing the eyes to shut.  It will also cause pain, choking, shortness of breath and disorientation.  Although these symptoms will ruin an attacker's day it's important you don't wait around to see what happens next.  Get yourself out of the situation immediately.  

Self defense sprays come in different forms, you can choose between a gel, foam or a spray. The delivery system can also deliver the contents in a stream, cone or fog.

Pepper spray which is delivered as a gel instead of a liquid stream, is referred to as Pepper Gel. This form of delivery provides a longer distance with a range of up to 18 feet and has a stronger pepper.  It's also non-flammable and will stick to the facial area like glue.

Pepper Foams are at a 10% pepper level and is a powerful deterrent. When sprayed with the thick foam it will cover an assailant's face which will make it  difficult to see. As they try to wipe the foam away from their face it will grind it into the eyes and face even more. 

The traditional self defense spray is delivered in the form of a stream for longer distance, a cone for wider areas, and fogger style for use in the home or vehicle.

Most defense spray containers are in an aerosol canister and have a safety feature to prevent accidental discharge.  Other containers can be purchased as disguised for discreet carry, such as a pen, a key chain, or in a lipstick.

When shopping for a defense spray consider your needs and choose wisely. If you want to be discreet in your carry a disguised style is probably best.  If you are a bail bondsman or bounty hunter, a much larger canister style that is holstered and worn on your belt or thigh is probably best for you.
